As part of our continuous improvement strategy, dSPACE introduced a 32-bit Linux-based real-time operating system (RTOS) for SCALEXIO Processing Units and DS6001 Processor Board with the dSPACE Release 2020-B.
With dSPACE Release 2022-A, a 64-bit Linux-based RTOS has been introduced as the default RTOS of the SCALEXIO processing hardware, while the 32-bit Linux-based RTOS was available as legacy support.
The migration to the 64-bit Linux-based RTOS provides you with
When migrating to dSPACE Release 2022-A or later, the following items built for earlier dSPACE Releases are no longer compatible with the SCALEXIO system and must be (re-)built from source code:
Source code is expected to be reusable in most cases. Cases that might require an adaptation of C code are related to custom code that expect specific word lengths for unqualified integer types (e.g., long) or pointers.
Since the 64-bit Linux-based real-time operating system (RTOS) will be the future RTOS for all SCALEXIO Processing Hardware, the legacy support of the 32-bit version will be discontinued after dSPACE Release 2023-A. From dSPACE Release 2023-B onwards, only the 64-bit RTOS will be provided.
