SOFIA, the largest airborne observatory in the world, is gaining evidence to support the theory that stars are formed by dust grains that align with magnetic fields.
SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory For Infrared Astronomy) is a collaborative project of NASA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). A dSPACE system was used in the development of the door opening mechanism on the Boeing 747SP airplane that carries the SOFIA telescope.
