Rapid controller development with MATLAB®/Simulink® and dedicated rapid prototyping systems is a well-established approach in numerous industry sectors. As a rule, these development platforms are based on powerful microcontrollers and real-time operating systems that ensure very fast system startup and short interrupt times. These systems are particularly employed in the automotive industry, which uses them to develop and test the functions of electronic control units in actual vehicles.
