The amount of software in modern electronic control units (ECUs), and the degree of networking between them, have reached such proportions that they increasingly cause software development and maintenance problems for vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. It is not uncommon to have to handle several hundred software modules for a single ECU, or even thousands of functions for a domain or a whole vehicle. To meet this challenge head on, dSPACE, the leading supplier of tools for developing automotive software, has added SystemDesk to its tool chain.
SystemDesk introduces a model-based development process at system level, allowing users to extend existing development processes. This includes the shared use and maintenance of system models by manufacturers and their suppliers, with support for software reusability, software integration, and AUTOSAR.
