FAQ 132: Restoring the ControlDesk Instrument Selector

Question

The ControlDesk Instrument Selector is empty. How can I restore it and recover the default instruments?

Solution

There are two possible approaches to restore the Instrument Selector. First, try step 1 before proceeding to step 2.

1. The easiest way is to copy the lost instruments from the Instrument Libraries to the Instrument Selector.

  • Right-click on the Instrument Sector tab and select Show Libraries.
  • Then copy the missing library categories one by one using the "copy" button.
To do this, the library categories must be selected individually.

2. To restore the default instruments, you must delete the Configuration.ilc file in the following directory:

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\dSPACE\<GUID>\ControlDesk

Example for a user named  dSPACEuser and ControlDesk 7.3:

C:\Users\dSPACEuser\AppData\Local\dSPACE\161C5690-194B-4B14-8F17-8AA12EBFC5D0\ControlDesk

After restarting ControlDesk, the default instruments are available again in ControlDesk.

To get the name of the directory, open ControlDesk and enter the following command in the Internal Python Interpreter:
Application.Environment.ApplicationSettingsPath
