Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation has been used in testing electronic vehicle ECUs with great success for many years now. One important application area for HIL simulation is testing ECU diagnostics. This is not surprising, in view of the fact that diagnostics software has increased in complexity and grown immensely in importance over the last few years. To make diagnostic tests easier to handle on the HIL simulator, dSPACE now offers test automation and diagnostic tools, and integration of these two, from a single vendor.
