Platform Management or XIL API are not functional when using PROXY Environment Variables

Problem description

When using the following Environment Variables together with dSPACE Releases, the Platform Management (Releases 2022-A and 2022-B (753666)) or the XIL API (Releases 2023-A until 2024-B (1300223)), are not functional:

• GRPC_PROXY
• HTTPS_PROXY
• HTTP_PROXY

If at least one of the PROXY Environment Variables described above is defined, your system might be affected.

Affected dSPACE tools

XIL API from dSPACE Release 2023-A until 2024-B is affected.

All tools using the dSPACE Platform Management from dSPACE Release 2022-A and 2022-B are affected. The dSPACE Platform Management is a Common Component for several dSPACE Products. It is installed with the product from the newest dSPACE Release that uses the Platform Management.

The following dSPACE products are using the Platform Management:

• ControlDesk
• ConfigurationDesk
• AutomationDesk
• ModelDesk
• MotionDesk
• XILApiMAPort
• PlatformManagementAPI
• CmdLoader
• Real-Time Test Manager
• Firmware Manager
• VEOS

Solution

Set the Environment Variable NO_GRPC_PROXY to 127.0.0.1,localhost.
Remark: We asked to set 127.0.0.1, localhost (including the “space” after the comma) in a former version of this page.
This setting does NOT work for the XIL API. Please remove the “space”.

Remark: In Windows 11, there is a new setting that also seems to avoid the usage of a proxy for localhost. Please still explicitly follow the described solution.

This setting will cause issues when using MIPS. We are currently preparing information, which will be available in the FAQ section soon.
