dSPACE Seamlessly Integrates Cybersecurity Testing into SIL and HIL Validation
dSPACE integrates VEOS and SCALEXIO with HydraVision from dissecto, the dSPACE cybersecurity brand, to enable continuous security validation throughout the entire development process.
Paderborn, October 1, 2026 – As vehicles become increasingly connected and the proportion of software in modern systems continues to grow, the importance of end-to-end cybersecurity validation throughout the entire development lifecycle is also increasing. With this in mind, dSPACE is integrating HydraVision – the cybersecurity test platform from the dSPACE cybersecurity brand, dissecto, which has already proven itself in many projects – into the VEOS and SCALEXIO X-in-the-loop validation environments. This integration enables automated cybersecurity testing within existing SIL, HIL, and CI/CD-based testing processes.
By expanding its cybersecurity portfolio, dSPACE combines its proven simulation and validation expertise with the renowned and field-proven cybersecurity testing solutions from the dissecto brand.
Regulatory requirements such as the Cyber Resilience Act, UNECE R155, and ISO/SAE 21434 are increasing the need for continuous security verification even in the early stages of development. At the same time, manufacturers and suppliers are facing the challenge of efficiently integrating cybersecurity testing into existing development and testing processes
With the integration of HydraVision, development and validation teams can perform automated cybersecurity tests directly within their existing X-in-the-loop environments. The tests are performed on virtual or real control units and systems, while VEOS and SCALEXIO provide the corresponding simulation and test environments. This allows security mechanisms to be validated under realistic conditions, enabling the identification of potential vulnerabilities early on.
A key advantage of this solution is that it makes cybersecurity expertise available across the organization. Security specialists create and maintain reusable test cases in HydraVision, which can then be executed automatically by development and testing teams. This enables continuous security validation without the need to involve cybersecurity experts for every test run.
This integration also supports the shift of security testing to early stages of development. Even in software-in-the-loop environments, virtual ECUs can be automatically tested for security risks. These same test cases can be reused later on hardware-in-the-loop systems, ensuring consistent security validation across all stages of development.
The benefits include automated and reproducible cybersecurity testing in existing test automation and CI/CD environments, the use of existing VEOS and SCALEXIO infrastructures, and greater test coverage of complex E/E architectures and networked systems. In addition, the automated workflows provide traceable results for compliance and approval processes.
"The combination of HydraVision and the dSPACE X-in-the-loop platforms lays the foundation for end-to-end cybersecurity validation, from early software development through system integration. Companies can address security requirements more efficiently, identify risks early on, and accelerate the release of secure, software-defined products," explained Dr. Nils Weiß, Head of Development for HydraVision at dSPACE and co-founder of dissecto.
