アクティブサスペンションは、車体の動きをダンパーなどで確実に抑制することにより、乗り心地を一層快適なものに変えてくれます。BMWグループでは、1つの中央電子制御装置（ECU）と複数のサテライトECUからなる分散型コントローラをベースにして、動的な安定を確保するための新しいダンパー制御システムを開発しました。拡張機能モデルに対する量産コードは、TargetLinkによって大部分が自動化された開発プロセスで生成されました。FlexRayを備えた他のツールも使用されました。
