The automated testing of electronic control units (ECUs) and ECU networks by hardware-in- the-loop (HIL) simulation is now standard practice. The question is no longer what to test vehicle electronics with, but how to test them. Taking modern test organization and test processes as a starting point, this article describes the corresponding requirements for test environments and test tools.
