Simple Bus Communication Tests

A simple bus communication test is often the first step to check the test setup. The network participants can be a combination of real and simulated electronic control units (ECUs) if not all ECUs are available as hardware prototypes yet.

Static signal values can be used to stimulate the bus communication. dSPACE offers a wide range of software tools for configuring bus communication simulation. Together they cover all of the most common bus and network protocols.

The dSPACE bus configuration software Bus Manager handles the CAN and LIN protocols in one tool. It even enables you to set up a simple bus simulation without having to use modeling software. If required, behavior models can be added in further integration steps.

To get a quick overview of the test setup, dSPACE ControlDesk offers an intuitive interface for monitoring and analyzing signals and variables. ControlDesk comes with a library of ready-to-use layouts for representing bus communication graphically, so you can start your project right away. Additionally, you can manipulate the signals during run time and see the result directly in ControlDesk. This helps you set up your test quickly.

Supported Bus and Network Protocols

For simple bus communication tests, the dSPACE products support the following communication protocols:

  • CAN / CAN FD
  • LIN
  • Ethernet
  • FlexRay
