FAQ 771: Determining the dSPACE License ID

Question

Where can I find the dSPACE license ID of my execution key (dSPACE dongle) or the license ID of my floating network license (FNL)?

Solution

If the License ID cannot be determined because you do not have access to a dSPACE dongle or an FNL server, please enter "Unavailable" in the License ID field of the support request form.

Obtaining dSPACE License IDs

A CmContainer can be a USB CmDongle or a software-based CmActLicense container, which is used for floating network licenses (FNL). The CmContainer can store different license IDs:

• The serial number (e.g., 3-xxxxxxx) of the CmContainer in which the related license is activated
• The WibuKey ID (e.g., #12345), a special ID required for dSPACE Release 2017-A and earlier

The following table shows the different dongle and CMContainer types:

You can determine the license ID in dSPACE Installation Manager.

1. Connect the CmDongle to your PC.
2. From Start – dSPACE Installation Manager, select dSPACE Installation Manager.dSPACE Installation Manager opens.
3. Open the Licensing page.On the Licensing page, open the CMContainer page.
4. To display the License-ID of a floating network license, clear the "Show only local items" checkbox.

Determine the License ID with dSPACE License Manager (Legacy)

1. Ensure that the dSPACE execution key (dongle) is connected to the PC.
2. From Start – dSPACE Installation Manager, select dSPACE License Manager (Legacy). dSPACE License Manager (Legacy) opens.
3. Click the Show Connected Dongles tab. 

Determine the License ID with dSPACE Installation Manager 4.3 or Earlier

1. Ensure that the dSPACE execution key (dongle) is connected to the PC.
2. Start the dSPACE Installation Manager from the Windows Start menu: Start —Programs —dSPACE Installation Manager
3. Click the Licenses tab. On the dSPACE Licensing page, open the Show Connected Dongles page.
