Find Variable on Layouts

When you work with variables, it might be useful to find all instruments connected to a specific variable.

This utility adds a command to the context menu of the Variables controlbar and new ribbon group to the Layouting ribbon.

The new ribbon group provides the following three elements : Find Next, Clear Selection, Only on Active Layout.

The new context menu command is Find Variable on Layouts, or Find Variable on Active Layout if the Only on Active Layout checkbox is selected.

The function searches all instruments on all open layouts for a connection to the variable, starting with the active layout. If the variable is connected to an instrument, the respective layout is brought to the front, the instrument is highlighted (blue frame) and the variable is brought to the visible area of the instrument. The function extends the Layouting ribbon by the Find Variable on Active Layout(s) ribbon group. The ribbon group contains the Find Next and Clear Selection buttons as well as the Only on Active Layout checkbox.

The functionality lets you highlight instruments that are connected to a specific variable. You can click a button to highlight the next instrument with the respective connection. If required, the layout with the next instrument is automatically brought to the front. The functionality supports layout groups. Grouped instruments are also highlighted by this function extension.
