Migrating to the New Failure Simulation Package

September 9, 2015: The improvements brought by the new ASAM XIL standard will be included successively in dSPACE products. Proprietary interfaces in the products will be replaced by ASAM XIL interfaces. We therefore offer a new product as of dSPACE Release 2015-B (planned for November 2015): the Failure Simulation Package. The product combines and replaces the tools ControlDesk Next Generation Failure Simulation Module and Failure Simulation API Package, which will both be discontinued. Customers with an active Software Maintenance Service contract for one of the discontinued products will receive the Failure Simulation Package automatically and free of charge with dSPACE Release 2015-B. The Platform API Package will be modified as well: HIL API and RTPLIB2 components will be distributed for the last time with Release 2016-A.

Failure Simulation API Package and ControlDesk Next Generation Failure Simulation Module

With dSPACE Release 2015-B, dSPACE introduces the new Failure Simulation Package for uniform access to all dSPACE failure simulation systems. The new package provides API access according to the ASAM XIL Electrical Error Simulation Port (EESPort), and a XIL API EESPort user interface component for ControlDesk Next Generation that complies with the ASAM XIL standard. The Failure Simulation Package completely replaces its predecessor products, ControlDesk Next Generation Failure Simulation Module and Failure Simulation API Package. To make the migration easier for our customers, ControlDesk Next Generation Failure Simulation Module will be distributed together with the new Failure Simulation Package until dSPACE Release 2016-A (planned for May 2016).

Platform API Package

Since dSPACE Release 2014-B, the existing Platform API Package for uniform access to all dSPACE simulation platforms contains an implementation of the ASAM XIL Model Access Port (MAPort) in .Net, which can be used from within Python via PythonNet. XIL MAPort .Net is the successor of HIL API .NET and the HIL API Python implementation. Due to functional overlaps, RTPLIB2 will also be replaced by XIL API MAPort .NET.To support the migration to XIL API, the following product parts of the Platform API Package will be available up to and including dSPACE Release 2016-A: RTPLIB2, HIL API .NET, and HIL API Python.

Migration Support

dSPACE supports your migration to XIL API EESPort .NET and XIL API MAPort .NET by providing relevant tools, documentation, and code examples. These will be available shortly on the Support Center websites for ControlDesk Next Generation and Test Automation Tools.
