The AUTOSAR initiative (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture, www.autosar.org) started developing the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform with the aim of fulfilling application requirements such as highly-automated driving. These requirements include software updates over the air to integrate improved algorithms into vehicles as well as the support of computations that simultaneously require high computing power and strict safety standards. The AUTOSAR adaptive platform is not intended to replace the classic platform. ECUs developed by both platforms can co-exist and communicate in the same vehicle.
This course introduces you to the main goals and contents of the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform and compares them with their counterparts on the AUTOSAR Classic Platform. You will learn about the service-oriented architecture used by the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform and how the communication patterns compare to those of the AUTOSAR Classic Platforms. Other topics discussed include the changed basic software, which is called platform software in the Adaptive AUTOSAR, a short introduction to the implementation of the application software, and a basic explanation of the SOME/IP protocol.
