ASM（Automotive Simulation Models）の特長は、オープンな設計思想です。ユーザはモデルをSimulinkブロックレベルまで詳細化して検討し、さらにそのモデルに対して修正や独自モデルの追加も行うことができます。このオープンで柔軟なアプローチは、パラメータ設定ソフトウエアModelDeskのバージョン2.0によってさらに便利で効率的になりました。ModelDeskでは、ユーザが修正または追加したモデルを検出し、それに対してグラフィカルなパラメータ設定を提供するようになりました。
