Handling Different .NET Versions When Connecting to MATLAB

Working with dSPACE products as of Release 2024-B and older products in MATLAB

Due to the dependency on .NET, products from Release 2024-B or newer cannot be used with products from older Releases in the same MATLAB® instance.

Changes as of Release 2024-B

As of Release 2024-B, all dSPACE products require .NET Core.

.NET Framework is not supported anymore.

MATLAB still supports either .NET Core, or .NET Framework. However, MATLAB does not support .NET Core and .NET Framework at the same time.

Activating a dSPACE Installation Set for a specific MATLAB installation, dSPACE Installation Manager will change the .NET version, if necessary. 
Other dSPACE Installations Sets that use the same MATLAB installation but require another .NET version, will be disconnected from this MATLAB installation.

Impact on non-dSPACE software 

When activating another .NET version in MATLAB, this might also affect non-dSPACE programs that use the MATLAB installation.

Backup and restore

When switching the .NET version the first time, dSPACE Installation Manager creates a backup of the current configuration.

This backup can be restored.
