FPGA and processor model migration from MicroAutoBox II to MicroAutoBox III
Question
Can an FPGA and the corresponding processor model, which was created for a MicroAutoBox II, also be used for a MicroAutoBox III? What steps need to be taken during a migration?
Step 1: Set the solver step in Simulink to "Variable Step" and make sure that in case of one combined model the FPGA subsystem is not commented out.
Step 2: Open the FPGA Setup Block and select a framework supported by the MicroAutoBox III:
Confirm with "Apply" and then "OK".
Step 3: Open the FPGA_IO_WRITE and FPGA_IO_READ blocks in the FPGA model/subsystem.
If an error message appears here, e.g. if the IO module cannot be found, the affected blocks must be recreated.
Step 4: Open the FPGA_XDATA_READ and FPGA_XDATA_WRITE blocks and display the existing "Precessor Interface" by pressing the "Show" button:
Step 5: Delete the PROC_XDATA_WRITE or the PROC_XDATA_READ block as well as the PROC_SETUP_BLOCK on the processor side of the model:
Step 6: Generate the entire processor interface of all the FPGA blocks from the FPGA Setup Block:
To do this, press button "Generate"under "ConfigurationDesk Interface" --> "Processor Interface":
Alternatively:
Go back to the FPGA model (subsystem) and generate a new "Processor Interface" for each FPGA_XDATA_READ and FPGA_XDATA_WRITE block:
Step 7: Move the model port block(s) thus generated by selecting and "CTRL + X" and insert the blocks on the processor side by "CTRL + V". Connect the blocks, respectively:
Step 8: The migration is complete. Test the functionality of the model by starting an offline simulation in Simulink.
