Why do I need simulation models?
Simulation models replicate physical systems and environments – they serve as the digital twin of your system. They enable software-based development to shift testing earlier in the process, reducing costs and risks while accelerating development cycles. By replacing real components in situations where testing would be costly or unsafe, simulation models are essential for methods such as software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. They also enable testing even before physical prototypes exist, further shortening development cycles and reducing risks.
What is in it for engineers and software developers?
- Frontload testing for faster development cycles
- Test safely without risking real components
- Reduce costs with early virtual validation

Certified According to ISO 26262
The dSPACE simulation tool suite consisting of ASM, AURELION, and ModelDesk was certified by TÜV SÜD according to ISO 26262 for safety-relevant systems in motor vehicles. These simulation, parameterization, and visualization tools are thus suitable to be used in safety-related development projects according to ISO 26262:2018 for any automotive safety integrity level (ASIL).
This means: Vehicle manufacturers and suppliers can exclude the tools from the ISO 26262 qualification of their entire processes and can concentrate on proving the functional safety of their own process chains.
