DS6101-04 Firmware Updates

• Relevant only for DS6101 boards before revision 05. 
• The latest DS6101-04 boards require updated firmware before they can be used with older Releases.
• Specific error messages can be found in the log file.

Introduction

Recently, several changes were made to the DS6101 hardware and firmware that may result in a DS6101 board not being usable with an older release until an additional firmware update is performed. Below you will find a list of typical error messages. 

If you encounter such a problem, try to solve it in the following way.

Solution

Regardless of the Release that is currently used

1. Download and install the latest available Firmware Archives for the newest Release.
   ​​​​​​​Find the link below.
2. Update the SCALEXIO system to this firmware version with Firmware Manager.
3. Re-boot the SCALEXIO.
4. Check with Firmware Manager that all boards are displayed correctly.

If the boards are not detected correctly, contact your local support team. They will ask you for the SCALEXIO Report and the dSPACE Installation Manager Diagnostic File.

Working with Release 2022-A or newer

If the boards are detected with the latest firmware, you can just keep it and use it with your real-time application.

​​​​​​​Working with a Release before 2022-A

When working with a Release before 2022-A, the firmware must exactly match the Release that was used to build the real-time application:

1. Get the latest Firmware Archives for Release you are using.
2. Downgrade the firmware with Firmware Manager.

Related Error Messages

These error messages may appear in the logfiles if the DS6101 firmware is incompatible with the current SCALEXIO firmware:

Board commissioning error. This board cannot be used. If the error persists after a complete update to latest firmware, please contact dSPACE. dSPACE Support information: A read-only inventory PROM section on CN[...]/NETWORK/ION[...] (IOCNET node ID ...) is corrupt or cannot be read.

Board with serial number … (DS6101) cannot be updated since it is not supported by the firmware that is currently installed on the target system. A second update run is required.

Board or module of type DS6101 (serial number …) is not supported by this firmware version and will be ignored. A firmware update is required to make it available.
