ConfigurationDesk and Bus Manager 2025-B (26.1)

About

ConfigurationDesk and Bus Manager 2025-B (26.1) is compatible with dSPACE Releases 2025-B, 2025-A, 2024-B, and 2024-A. This allows you to use a later ConfigurationDesk and Bus Manager version while all other products continue to be used with their versions included in dSPACE Release 2025-B, Release 2025-A, Release 2024-B, or Release 2024-A. It requires a license with a maintenance end date of February 28, 2026, or later.

    • The Bus Manager now supports secure onboard communication (SecOC) that is specified in DBC files.
  • General improvements
    • The Bus Manager now provides Embedded Help texts for elements that are available in Bus Manager tables.
    • When you add bus simulation containers (BSC files) or bus implementations to the ConfigurationDesk application, you can now configure the period and offset for the timer event of the available Bus Configuration tasks.
    • The Bus Manager now lets you customize the paths of signals that are accessible in shared data interfaces (SDI).
Compatibility

In a few cases, some additional steps must be taken in order to fulfill compatibility.

Automation Using Python

All software products in dSPACE Release 2024-A support Python 3.11. The setup of ConfigurationDesk 2025-B (26.1) additionally installs Python 3.12 for its internal Python interpreter.

As a result, the Windows file associations (default applications) for .py and .pyw files are then set to the newer Python version. However, automating the products from Release 2024-A should be done with the matching Python version to avoid potential problems due to library dependencies. ConfigurationDesk does not have such library dependencies and can be automated with the Python version from the earlier Release.

Therefore, follow these recommendations:

Reassign Windows file associations to PythonWin 3.11 by running PythonInstaller.exe from <DVDRoot>\Products\Common\Python3.11 of your dSPACE Release 2024-A installation media (e.g., DVD).

Use an external Python interpreter to automate dSPACE tools, especially for scenarios that automate several products in one script. Do not use ConfigurationDesk’s internal interpreter for this purpose. If you use the interpreter in ConfigurationDesk to access other products that do not yet support Python 3.12 (e.g., MATLAB®) via Python scripts, this might lead to errors and exceptions.

ControlDesk

To achieve full compatibility with ControlDesk 2024-A for EXPSWCFG files, you must install ControlDesk 24.1 Patch 2 or a later patch.

Download Patch: ControlDesk 24.1 Patch

VEOS

To achieve full compatibility with VEOS 2024-A for BSC files, you must install VEOS 24.1 Patch 2 or a later patch.

Download Patch: VEOS 24.1 Patch

SYNECT/Workflow Management

To achieve full compatibility with SYNECT/Workflow Management 2024-A (named dSPACE WFM SYNECT 24.1 Solution 2024-A in Installation Manager), you must install at least version 24.1.0.33. For a download, go to https://www.dspace.com/go/WorkflowManagement.

ApplTools Solution

To use ConfigurationDesk 2025-B (26.1) in combination with dSPACE Releases 2024-A and 2024-B, you must install at least version 24.1.0.81 of ApplTools Solution 2024-A or at least version 24.2.0.79 of ApplTools Solution 2024-B. For a download, go to https://www.dspace.com/go/ApplToolsSolution

Electrical Power Systems Simulation Package (FPGA)

dSPACE ConfigurationDesk 2025-B (26.1) does not support the dSPACE Electrical Power Systems Simulation Package (FPGA) from dSPACE Releases 2024-A and 2024-B. If required, please fill out the support request form provided on the website at Support Request.

Discontinuations

The support of FPGA model INI files and ZIP files is removed. As of FPGA Programming Blockset 2022-B, an FPGAC file includes the build results needed to add FPGA custom function block types to ConfigurationDesk. Migrate existing FPGA models to the current FPGA Programming Blockset version and build a new FPGA application.

The export of legacy hardware topology files (HTFX files) using the XML file format is removed. We recommend that you use the current HTFX file format introduced with ConfigurationDesk 2023-B. You can migrate existing legacy HTFX files using the XML format by importing and exporting them to the current JSON format.
