Mississippi State University EcoCAR Team

The Mississippi State University (MSU) EcoCAR 2 Teamuses dSPACE ASM Engine and Vehicle Dynamics models for their MicroAutoBox II and RapidPro controller development.

The MSU team uses the MicroAutoBox II and RapidPro controller to interface to a wide range of vehicle components. As part of the EcoCAR 2 competition, the team’s vehicle architecture is a series-parallel switching PHEV, utilizing a pretransmission permanent magnet DC electric motor and 1.3 L turbocharged engine.

“The dSPACE ASM Engine and Vehicle Dynamics models have significantly benefited our team by providing an industry-level model with a high level of modeling accuracy,” said Jonathan Moore, Electrical & Controls Group Leader. “The use of ModelDesk has greatly simplified the process of parameterizing the ASM models being utilized in the MSU HIL system.”

The MSU team earned first place honors at the EcoCAR 2 Year One Competition Finals held in May 2012.
