Configurable Principal Point for Camera Sensors

You can configure the principal point to manually specify the sharpest point in the camera sensor data that is rendered by AURELION. This is important in fish-eye cameras or cameras with noticeable lens distortions. This feature is required because camera sensors might have a slight misalignment of the lens and the camera sensor image plane, so the sharpest point of an image is not in the center of the image plane.

Without principal point shift.

Obscured Vehicles in Radar Sensors

A radar wave can interact with an obscured vehicle, which is not in the direct line of sight of the radar sensor. This happens, for example, via multipath reflections with the ground and the underbody of the vehicle in front of the ego vehicle. When those radar waves reflect back to the sensor, it is able to see the car in front of the other car.

The radar simulation in AURELION was improved towards a more realistic behavior.

Support for Fog in Lidar Sensors

Foggy weather impacts lidar performance and affects range, reflectivity, and accuracy. To check and improve your algorithm’s robustness, we added fog simulation to AURELION. You can change the weather situation dynamically with parameters to configure fog density and maximum view distance. The resulting fog interacts with the lidar simulation and offers a realistic point cloud.

Twin Tires for Trucks

Now you can parametrize your trucks and trailers with support for twin tires and mudguards on a single axle.
You can switch between single and twin tires in the ModelDesk parameters.

Pedestrian Traffic Lights

A standard German pedestrian traffic light is added. You can attach the lights to a pole and their state can be controlled via the light signal properties, as with the other traffic lights.

More Features

  • Performance improvement especially for the fisheye camera sensor
  • Hard hats are added to construction workers wearing vests
  • Added german traffic sign type 100-30
