Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation is used for testing everything from individual components to all the electronics in an entire vehicle. At car manufacturers especially, all test tasks are performed within one single company, but suppliers are also increasingly developing and testing ECU networks as part of the systems they supply. Professional HIL systems cover the entire development process independently of specific test tasks.
