T.U.C. Racing Team e.V.

The T.U.C. Racing Team e.V. not only brings together students from different departments of TU Chemnitz but also it features many different nationalities in the team. The heterogeneous setup promotes innovative ideas and helps put them into practice.

The greatest challenge while developing and building a first vehicle is to introduce a fully functional and technologically competitive racing vehicle. Therefore, the team puts great emphasis on the reliability of individual components. The concept of the vehicle that is currently being built is based on a combination of tried-and-tested components, such as a space frame made of steel, and innovative own developments , such as a self-designed motor gearbox unit or components made of a woven 3-D fiber compound. These innovations are thought up in close collaboration of the several departments of TU Chemnitz.

While the team was working on its first rollout in 2017, the partnership with dSPACE was particularly important for the T.U.C. Racing Team. A MicroAutoBox II is used in the vehicle. As the main control unit, it performs the diagnostics, control, and communication between the different modules and electronic control units, thus working as the brain of the vehicle.
