Team Spark

Located in Reykjavík, Iceland, Team Spark is the Formula Student Electric team of the University of Iceland, which has approximately 40 members.

Even though the team has built four complete cars since 2011, it is relatively new and is quite unique in being one of only a handful of teams in Europe that have been dedicated to the electric drive from the very beginning. The team's philosophy is to reach as many students as possible and to have a meaningful role for every team member.

In 2017 the team competed in Formula Student Italy and Formula Student Austria, where the dSPACE MicroAutoBox (MAB) II controlled the torque requests, regenerative braking signals, and many important safety systems.

For the latest season, the team had many new exciting systems under development to leverage the power of the MAB II. They include but are not limited to a traction control system, a drag reduction system, an active aero balancing system, actively controlled anti-roll characteristics, and more sophisticated battery management and telemetry systems.
