Strohm und Söhne e.V.

The Strohm und Söhne e.V. team of the Nuremberg Institute of Technology was founded in 2011 and is currently working on its fifth electric racing vehicle. The currently 30 members come from different departments, among them students of the courses Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Adminstration, and Journalism of Technology.

This year, the innovations they have planned for their racing vehicles, NoRa 5, are a new four-wheel drive, an aluminum monocoque, and a new carbon container for the battery. In addition, telemetric measurement is to become possible.

In 2016, the team took part in the Formula Student Germany (FSG) and the Formula Student Austria (FSA) for the first time. In Austria, the team achieved great results in the Endurance and Efficiency disciplines.

dSPACE has been supporting the team with a MicroAutoBox II since the first vehicle. MicroAutoBox II serves as the central ECU for the racing vehicle. When the vehicles were first used, the team was able to determine many parameters using ControlDesk and to solve many potential problems. The easy integration of MATLAB®/Simulink® allows for a model-based software development.
