Starkstrom e.V.

As a nonprofit organization, Starkstrom e.V., the Formula Student team of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, is dedicated to supporting student research in electromobility and autonomous driving. The team is made up of students of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Computer Sciences, and Design. Since the team’s founding in 2011, it has provided an ideal environment for using the acquired knowledge in exciting projects and to evolve further both as a professional and as a person.

For the 2017 season, the team has developed its sixth racing vehicle anew. Last year’s racer, Silencio, has been converted into a completely autonomous vehicle. The team is planning to let it compete in the first-ever race in the Driverless category. After switching to a four-wheel drive in 2016, the team advanced and improved the current vehicle even more.

Thanks to the dSPACE MicroAutoBox and Embedded PC, the team is able to develop image processing algorithms, which are needed to detect the race track in Formula Student Driverless, and use them in the vehicle this season.

The team is looking forward to an exciting and successful racing season and a rewarding cooperation with dSPACE.
