Team Starcraft currently consists of 60 students of the Ilmenau University of Technology and it is their goal to design and build an electric racing vehicle every year.
The team was founded in 2006 and has already been quite successful. It won the Best Newcomer award in 2010 at Formula Student Germany and ranked second in 2014 for Fuel Efficiency. At Formula SAE Italy 2012, Team Starcraft placed tenth overall. In 2015, they ranked third at the Vienna E-Challenge both in the Endurance class and overall.
The team uses MicroAutoBox II from dSPACE as the central processing unit in the categories Electric and Driverless. In the Driverless category, the MicroAutoBox II has expansions that enable the evaluation and in-vehicle processing of camera sensor data. The team uses dSPACE ControlDesk as the interface for test or test drives.
The team is planning the successful participation in further Formula Student events in the Electric and Driverless classes.
