Evolution Racing Team

The Evolution Racing Team Saar e.V. is the Formula Student team of Saarland University, the University of Cooperative Education Saarland e.V., and the University of Applied Sciences Saar, Germany. The team was founded in October 2014 and since then has been building vehicles with which it participates in the Formula Student Electric. Currently, approximately 30 students from different departments dedicate themselves to designing, marketing, and building the latest vehicle.

This season, various new developments enhance the ECUs’ functionality and reliability. An optimized gearbox and chassis save weight and additional sensors collect additional data for future vehicles.

Improving the torque distribution (torque vectoring) of the vehicle is planned. For this, the students create a model in MATLAB®/Simulink® and then test it directly on the vehicle using dSPACE MicroAutoBox II. The engine test bench, controlled by MicroAutoBox II is to be built for testing the engine and determining as well as setting the engine parameters.

Currently, the team is planning to participate in Formula Student events in all of Europe with their racing vehicle Darwin.
