E-Team Duisburg-Essen e.V.

Every year, E-Team Duisburg-Essen e.V. develops a new racing vehicle with an electric drive to participate in the student design competitions of Formula Student (FS) Electric.

The team was founded in 2010 and currently has 45 members who are enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Nano Engineering. In the summer of 2016, it raced at FS Hungary in Győr and FS Czech in Most with its new racing vehicle A40-02. In the Czech Republic, the team placed 6th overall at Formula Student Electric.

The A40-02 is driven by two asynchronous machines at the rear wheels with a nominal capacity of 50 kW. These machines are supplied by a 6 kWh battery via the inverter. A MicroAutoBox II provided by the main sponsor dSPACE GmbH acts as the ECU of the racing vehicle. Their racing vehicle is equipped with a similar drive technology and the dSPACE MicroAutoBox II. It also gets the addition of a brand new aerodynamics package. The vehicle will race against the competition at FS Spain and FS Italy. At the moment, the planning team, together with the Institute of Mechatronics, is preparing a design of a racing vehicle for Formula Student Driverless.
