DART Racing

Since its founding in 2005, the TU Darmstadt Racing Team e.V. has dedicated itself to the research and development of race cars. Beginning with combustion vehicles, the team started to focused on all-electric cars in 2011. For each season since 2017, the electric vehicle of the previous season is also upgraded to a fully autonomous race car to compete in the Formula Student Driverless events.

Currently, the team consists of 50 students, most of whom study Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar subject. With their lambda-D2018 ranking second in track drive, the ten-lap handling course at Formula Student Germany, the team now focuses on pushing the autonomous system to the vehicle’s limits.

One of the main components of the lambda-D2018 is a dSPACE MicroAutoBox II, which was used as the vehicle control unit, and the attached Embedded PC.
