Field Application Engineer – Automotive Networks

This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone who understands vehicle networking and is eager to apply or deepen that knowledge in a dynamic, customer-facing environment. Whether you’re an experienced engineer (perhaps familiar with Vector or similar tools) or a talented MSc graduate looking to launch your career in automotive systems, this role provides outstanding training and development opportunities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support customers with the implementation and configuration of automotive bus systems (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet) using dSPACE platforms
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to analyse and optimise vehicle network architectures, including DBC and ARXML-based configurations
  • Assist in the setup of communication networks within Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and simulation environments
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for network integration and validation tasks
  • Contribute to the development of internal test and demonstration systems focusing on in-vehicle communications
  • Stay up to date with emerging automotive communication standards and technologies

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automotive, or Computer science Engineering (MSc preferred)
  • Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols – CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet
  • Familiarity with network configuration or analysis tools (e.g. dSPACE, Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, ETAS, or similar)
  • Good understanding of embedded systems and ECU testing
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer interaction skills
  • A self-motivated problem solver with curiosity and initiative
  • Based near Warwick, with willingness to travel occasionally across the UK and Europe
