Application Engineer (f/m/d) - Virtual Validation of Functions for Autonomous Driving

Location: Zagreb

A main challenge of highly automated/autonomous driving is validating a wide variety of software-based systems for the perception or fusion of sensor data (camera, radar, or lidar sensors). The immense volumes of data generated by the millions of test kilometers can no longer be tested in real test drives alone, so the data has to be stored, simulated, and validated in virtual environments and system networks (clusters/cloud). For the customer-specific advancement of our software solutions in this domain, we are looking for an Application Engineer (f/m/d) to start at the earliest possible date.

As a member of our team, you will work closely with our global customers and actively support them in using established product solutions such as VEOS® or RTMaps® for SIL testing, particularly for data replay and data logging. You will not only use the state-of-the-art dSPACE product portfolio, but will also be involved in setting new milestones in the virtual validation of functions for autonomous functions by developing customer-specific solutions.

Are you an experienced professional looking for a new challenge? Are you a committed graduate looking for the perfect start? Through individual and project-oriented training, we will get you ready for your future tasks and give you the necessary freedom to assume responsibility and work on your personal development.

We provide a good mixture of development and engineering tasks. Your work results will directly be used by our customers and you’ll learn how the dSPACE products are used in real customer’s environments.

Your Tasks

  • Designing and developing new technologies and methods through customer support and monitoring of pilot projects in the field of data replay/data logging
  • Cooperating with our development department and the dedicated departments of our national and international customers in the automotive industry
  • Adaptation, tool automation, and integration of technologies into the customer-specific development process
  • Developing innovative solutions in data replay/data logging or in the simulation of recorded measurement data, simulation of ECU software, and virtual testing of ECUs

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, computer science, or other technical-scientific studies (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, diploma)
  • Experience in software development with any of C++, C, .NET (C#) or in comparable environments (e.g., Java)
  • Experience in the following areas is desirable, but not a prerequisite:
    • Programming with script languages, especially Python
    • Experience with Linux
    • Experience with cloud/container systems (Azure, Kubernetes, Docker)
    • Basic knowledge of control engineering
    • Automotive standards, such as AUTOSAR or FMI
    • Programming of embedded systems
    • Modeling and simulation of dynamic systems in MATLAB®/Simulink®
    • Affinity for modern automotive systems
    • Experience with bus systems (CAN FD, SOME/IP, Ethernet)
  • Pronounced analytical, systematic, and independent way of working
  • Customer focus, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team
  • High level of commitment, initiative, and willingness to learn
  • Very good proficiency in English
