Sensors

Added AURELION Ultrasonic Sensor

We are pleased to announce that in this version, the physics-based ultrasonic sensor is now available to all users. It allows for the configuration of transducers used on your vehicle as well as their positioning. The emission of ultrasonic waves is physically simulated using GPU-accelerated ray tracing, which includes interactions with the 3D environment, such as curbs, and effects like cross echoes.

Enhanced Anti-Aliasing for Improved Image Quality for the Camera Sensor

In this version, we have implemented improved anti-aliasing to enhance image quality while also boosting the frame rate, especially for cameras with higher resolutions. This enhancement reduces artifacts on smaller items like lane markings, which can lead to better performance for perception algorithms.

AURELION Tool Chain

New Communication Stack

We made significant improvements to the communication architecture between our simulation modules, ASM and AURELION, and the device under test (DUT). Configuration in AURELION Manager is now easier than ever. Simply specify the IP address of the target platform (VEOS or SCALEXIO), and you’re all set. You no longer need to execute the SD Broker (also known as Simulation Data Hub), as this functionality is now directly integrated into the ASM Model.

To retrieve data within your DUT, you only need to specify the target sensor ID. The abstraction layer will handle the rest to further streamline your workflow.

For more information on how to migrate from the previous communication to the new architecture, please visit this link: AURELION Migration from MotionDesk
Newly created projects in AURELION will directly use the new communication architecture.

3D Objects

Underground Parking Garage Scene

We have added a new scene that includes a 3D underground parking garage. It comes with full ModelDesk support for configuring custom driving maneuvers. It is particularly well-suited for use in combination with the newly added virtual ultrasonic sensor to test and validate automated and autonomous parking maneuvers.

Extended Library of European Traffic Signs for the Test and Validation of Intelligent Speed Assistance Systems (ISA)

The extended 3D Library for AURELION enhances the tool’s capabilities in testing and validating the detection of traffic signs. AURELION already featured a range of traffic signs across different countries such as Germany, Japan, China, and the USA. Now, we have added traffic signs from many more European countries. The new traffic signs have been created as 3D meshes and textures by Piaggio & C. S.p.A and ensure a highly accurate simulation. dSPACE is dedicated to the productization of these traffic signs and will continue to deliver them in future AURELION versions.
