The number of tests to validate ECU functionality increases. This is especially true for the development of ADAS and autonomous driving functions because standard requirements-based testing has to be complemented with other testing approaches to achieve a sufficient test coverage. Software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation speeds up the simulation compared to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests while providing better test results than model-in-the-loop (MIL) tests.
