dSPACE is an active member of several standardization groups, and we implement their specifications throughout our product range.

AUTOSAR Partnership

An industry partnership called AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture, founded to jointly develop and commercially release a standardized electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture concept. dSPACE joined the AUTOSAR partnership as a Premium Member in April 2004 BS and is involved in specifying parts of the architecture.


dSPACE is a member of the ADASIS Forum (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Interface Specifications) and provides a convenient tool portfolio for developing and testing predictive map-based electronic control unit (ECU) functions. The members of the ADASIS Forum include car makers, ECU suppliers, and vendors of navigation systems and digital road maps. Predictive map-based driver assistance systems have the potential to considerably reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and increase vehicle safety.


FlexRay has established itself as a de-facto standard for in-vehicle, time-triggered communication systems. Our product portfolio has been designed in close cooperation with advanced users of the FlexRay protocol to provide comprehensive FlexRay support. It covers everything from hardware such as prototyping systems and I/O boards with FlexRay interfaces to software for the real-time simulation of models in FlexRay networks.

dSPACE: A Founding Member of ASAM

In 1998, leading European automobile companies founded ASAM e.V. to reduce the cost and time of development processes in the field of vehicle electronics. dSPACE was one of the founding members of ASAM e.V., having already been involved in the initial pre-Association activities in 1996. ASAM’s objectives are standardized interfaces for data exchange and for manufacturer-independent compatibility of the software and hardware components used in the development process. Among the current members are well-known companies such as Audi, Bosch, BMW, Daimler, GM, Porsche, Renault, and VW.

OPEN Alliance

OPEN Alliance is designed to encourage wide scale adoption of Ethernet-based, single pair unshielded cable networks as the standard in automotive applications. The OPEN Alliance SIG (Special Interest Group) addresses industry requirements for improving in-vehicle safety, comfort, and infotainment, while significantly reducing network complexity and cabling costs. dSPACE joined the OPEN Alliance in 2012.

CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium

The CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium (C2C-CC) is a nonprofit, industry-driven organization initiated by European vehicle manufacturers and supported by equipment suppliers, research organizations and other partners. The C2C-CC is dedicated to the objective of further increasing road traffic safety and efficiency by means of cooperative intelligent transport systems (ITS) with vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V) supported by vehicle-to-infrastructure communication (V2I).

JasPar (Japan Automotive Software Platform Architecture)

JasPar is a consortium of numerous Japanese automotive manufacturers and suppliers whose goal is to promote automotive software technology and reduce development costs. Japanese companies are encouraged to jointly develop technologies such as automotive LAN-capable technologies, middleware and software platforms. JasPar represents the Japanese automotive industry on international standardization bodies and contributes to the development of global standards. dSPACE has been a JasPar member company since 2006.

The international automotive industry is forging ahead with innovative drive concepts such as electric motors and fuel cells, and at the same time further developing combustion drive systems. A current goal for vehicle developers is to improve the efficiency of vehicles and reduce CO2 emissions while maintaining a high standard of drivability.
Greater efficiency and new concepts are also much needed in other industries. One example is the move away from dependency on nuclear power towards using more regenerative energy. This is now well underway and makes reliable control systems more necessary than ever before.
Green Competence with dSPACE Products
With tried-and-tested dSPACE products, the complex interaction between all the different components in a hybrid or electric drive can be tested at an early stage of development. This speeds up the whole development process and guarantees the quality of the ECUs.
dSPACE supports all the development phases, from architecture-based system design and block-diagram-based function prototyping to automatic production code generation and ECU testing. The advantages are clear:

Green Success Stories
For more than two decades, dSPACE has been an active partner in the automotive industry's research and development activities for new drive technologies. dSPACE products have been used to optimize downsized engines, electric vehicles, hybrid drives (micro, mild, full hybrid), and to develop hydrogen vehicles with fuel cell drives and much, much more.
Other industries also benefit from our products – wind energy converters are one example.
