Electronics System Engineer

Looking for an enthusiastic individual with electronics systems engineer background to support custom solution development for the UK market.

In this role you will be engaging directly with our internal product development, engineering teams and sales teams to support with the design of solutions for our customers’ latest challenges.

Your responsibilities

  • System design of dSPACE HIL solutions for customers’ ECU testing needs. System designs may include but not limited to:
    • High-voltage systems for battery and hybrid electric vehicles
    • Load emulation systems for low-power auxiliary motors up to traction motors
    • Radar and camera over-the-air simulation systems for ADAS and AD applications            
    • Mechanical test benches for steering systems, brake systems etc.
    • High-speed bus communication like CAN-FD and Automotive Ethernet
  • Support Sales in the concept phase of new HIL systems.
  • Analyse customer requirements. Determine appropriate system designs based primarily on new and existing dSPACE products.
  • Develop the necessary technical documentation required to support the manufacture of the custom system designs to international standards.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing technicians and applications engineers to deliver turnkey solutions that exceed our customer expectations.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept to delivery.
  • Support application teams with technical knowledge for debug, repair, and system upgrades (in house or onsite at customer).

 

Your qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience and a relevant degree (BEng – electrical engineering or equivalent vocational qualifications). Masters desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge in the following areas is desirable:
    • Design of electrical / electronic test equipment
    • HIL system design
    • Control electronics, sensors, actuators
    • Experience with Bus systems like CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet
    • Foundation in understanding of electrical schematics and electrical components.
    • Experience in using EPLAN electric P8 design software.
    • Appreciation of the designs for automotive power electronics systems
    • electrical design, physical testing.
    • Practical experience of wiring, harnesses and test systems, frame builds.
  • Although Midlands focused, travel will be required on occasion.
