Electronic Technician

In this role, you will work on the build and test of HIL simulator systems for the testing of electronic control units (ECUs) in automotive, off-highway, aerospace, and other industrial applications.  You will be part of a team-oriented environment, involved in developing and applying dSPACE HIL simulation technology for the most exciting and cutting-edge control domains including e-mobility, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD).

 

Your responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly and wiring of dSPACE HIL simulators for customers’ ECU testing needs
  • Read schematics, EPLAN, and other design documentation
  • Wiring hardware in the loop simulators using crimping connections, soldering, screw terminals, etc.
  • Using documentation to configure PCB jumper settings or solder bridges
  • Assembly of Mechanical test benches for steering systems, brake system, etc
  • Work closely with the Hardware Engineering Team during build and testing to provide feedback to deliver turnkey HIL simulators that exceed customer expectations
  • Supporting HIL systems at customers facility with upgrades and improvements

 

Your qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree/ vocational electronics qualification or similar relevant technician experience.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desired:
    • Mechanical assembly and wiring of electronic test equipment
    • Light fabrication of brackets, plates, cut-outs, etc.
    • HIL system or panel wiring
    • Crimping terminals such as Hypertronics, AVX (EDAC), ferrules, ring terminals, Deutsch pin, etc.
    • Soldering through hole and surface mount components.
    • Reading and interpreting EPLAN documents
  • Ability to work autonomously within assigned objectives, Critical thinking, and diagnostic skills, solve problems and drive progress. 
  • Attention to detail- It is essential the engineer can work in a methodical approach to ensure accuracy and quality is paramount.
  • Have a proactive, inquisitive personality that works well with others as a team.
  • Have high levels of self-motivation.
  • Although Midlands focused, travel will be required on occasion.
