The EcoCAR 2 team of Virginia Tech is using dSPACE ASM powertrain and vehicle dynamics models for controller development and validation. Virginia Tech is using a dSPACE MicroAutoBox II as a hybrid vehicle supervisory controller.
The chosen architecture for Virginia Tech is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with a series-parallel powertrain.
“ASM has benefited the team by providing high-fidelity models for controller validation,” said Jonathan King, Virginia Tech Controls Team Leader. “Compared to previous years, the team has been able to spend less time in model development and more time actually running the models and generating useful results.”
