Projects at Educational Institutions

Reports on how the Automotive Simulation Models (ASM) are used in study projects and practical projects.

Hochschule Mannheim: Electric speed

The Hochschule Mannheim's Delta Racing team entered the Formula Student Electric competition with its new race car, the DR14-E, completed in 2014.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University EcoCAR Team

The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University EcoCAR 2 team uses ModelDesk to manage ASM parameters inside detailed diesel engine, electric machine, battery, and vehicle mobility models to rapidly develop an accurate plant model for safety-critical hardware-in-the-loop controller development.

Mississippi State University EcoCAR Team

The Mississippi State University (MSU) EcoCAR 2 Teamuses dSPACE ASM Engine and Vehicle Dynamics models for their MicroAutoBox II and RapidPro controller development.

Ohio State University EcoCAR Team

The Ohio State EcoCAR team is using the dSPACE ASM engine and battery models in combination with their own team-programmed hybrid vehicle model to test their vehicle supervisory controller, engine controller and transmission controller on dSPACE's hardware-in-the-loop equipment.

Purdue EcoCAR Team

The Purdue EcoMakers are modeling their entire EcoCAR 2 parallel-through-the-road PHEV on dSPACE ASM for control development.

University of Victoria’s EcoCAR Team

The University of Victoria’s (UVic) EcoCAR 2 Team uses a combined ASM engine and ASM vehicle dynamics model called the “dSPACE Virtual Vehicle” to simulate their hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) architecture for controls development.

Virginia Tech EcoCAR Team

The EcoCAR 2 team of Virginia Tech is using dSPACE ASM powertrain and vehicle dynamics models for controller development and validation. Virginia Tech is using a dSPACE MicroAutoBox II as a hybrid vehicle supervisory controller.

Wayne State EcoCAR Team

Wayne State University is heavily using dSPACE ASM Gasoline Engine and Electric Components, along with ControlDesk Experiments for HIL bench testing of supervisory hybrid control processor code.
