DS5396 Coax FIU Module

Module to simulate faults on coaxial wiring

The DS5396 Coax FIU module provides the following individual fault insertion functions for up to four coaxial wires:

  • Line break
  • Shielding break
  • Short to Vbat
  • Short to Gnd
  • Short to COM (e.g., for cross-module shorts)

It can be used on any coaxial interface, e.g., A-PHY, FPD-Link, GMSL, or ASA Motion Link, given sufficient signal integrity on the overall setup. For example, successfully running setups were achieved with GMSL2 6 Gb/s and A-PHY 8 Gb/s PAM 4.

The module is controlled by the dSPACE CAN protocol tool. User interfaces are available in dSPACE SCALEXIO together with the ApplTools Solution Package and via the dSPACE DCI CAN Hardware and XIL API, which enables usage both in the context of a larger dSPACE HIL system and in a stand-alone setup. The compact module is stack-mountable on a DIN rail (NS35).

Example setup for the DS5396 Coax FIU module with real sensors, an OTA-simulated sensor in a Camera Box, and sensors simulated via the dSPACE Environment Sensor Interface Unit.
