FAQ 044: Effective resolution of an AD converter


To measure the effective resolution of my AD board I have short circuited the inputs, but detected a high fluctuation of the signal. What signal-to-noise ratio can be expected using dSPACE AD boards and how can I determine the effective resolution of an AD converter?
