Extended hardware and software support

June 14, 2010: Version 3.1 of the AutomationDesk test automation software is out now, providing new options for running tests on a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator. It supports the new quad-core-processor DS1006 Processor Board and MicroAutoBox II, and also interacts more closely with the IBM Rational ClearCase version control system.

As in earlier versions, AutomationDesk offers numerous libraries for integrating different hardware and software tools. For example, calibration and diagnostics tools can be integrated via the ASAM MCD-3 standard to enable and even simplify the complex issues of HIL simulation, test automation, diagnostics and calibrations. The new AutomationDesk version also allows MCD-3 objects to be configured dynamically, i.e., during test execution. This enables users to describe tests in a generalized form, which is essential to achieve high reusability and independence from concrete projects or specific calibration and diagnostics tools. Suppliers find this project-independent reusability especially useful, since they frequently have to test similar functions for different OEMs. It is also a major objective for OEMs themselves as they aim to optimize cost efficiency.

AutomationDesk also has further usability enhancements, and its tool automation features have been extended.
