Over the years, the procedure for developing electronic control units (ECUs) has become increasingly efficient and powerful with the introduction of new tools and methods. The combination of AUTOSAR and model-based development has given rise totools that are as versatile, combinable, and powerful as never before. Yet tool chains can still be optimized by tailoring individual specializations to the requirements of specific companies or projects. This is demonstrated by outlining a model-based AUTOSAR tool chain, consisting of standard products, that reflects the current procedures of numerous users. This will then be used to discuss typical extensions and their effects on work efficiency.
